The competition begins with local contests to be held throughout the state. The winner of each local contest wins $50 cash and the right to compete in the state finals to be held at the KLBA convention in February 2007. Winner of the state finals -- Kansas Best Bartender -- wins a trip to Las Vegas for the American Beverage Licensees Convention and Nightclub & Bar tradeshow in March 2007.
Bartenders will be judged on their performance on a written test to assess their knowledge of the industry. They’ll then compete in several aspects of mixology including speed, accuracy, personality, drink knowledge, and specialty drink recipe.
